Mid-Week BBCAN Update for Week 3

Since we last talked, a lot has happened in the Big Brother Canada house, so let's get right into it. (Image credit to Slice)
Allison executed a nearly flawless
meld into the house dynamics.

Allison executed a nearly flawless meld into the house dynamics, explaining away the Houseguests queries with claims of innocence and ignorance. And although I wish she'd gone with the girl alliance, she seems to be well-ensconced with the First Five (although presumably doesn't know that the alliance actually exists).

It was certainly surprising that Allison knew Kenny from outside the house; to my (very limited) knowledge, that has never happened before except when Houseguests with ties to other Houseguests are actively recruited, like in BB8. This seems like an oversight on the part of Big Brother, especially because Kenny's keeping the fact that he's gay a secret from everyone else.

Thankfully for Kenny, apparently Allison doesn't know. And Sabrina doesn't know either; she was flirting with him and acting all shy and bashful in the hot tub. It's amusing because of course we know that Kenny has zero interest in her whatsoever and is just manipulating her, which is a refresher from the many showmances we see where the girl manipulates the guy (like Amanda and McCrae). Those relationships are intriguing as well, but this was an interesting contrast.

Adel and Paul are the misfits and
"targets" of the house, which is
actually embroiled in a cold war.
Now that two and a half weeks have passed, it's become clear how the alliances have fallen for the pre-jury game in this season. One one side of the house is the Girl Alliance, which is led by the reigning HOH Ika, and includes Rachelle and Neda, with Heather thinking she's part of it. Ika thinks that Sarah and Sabrina are also with them, but in reality they're part of the First Five, led by Kenny and Andrew and also containing Arlie. Jon and Allison are also associated with them.

We also have some mini-alliances, like the brother/sister friendship between Neda and Jon, who professes to actually hate his First Five allies. Adel and Paul are the misfits and "targets" of the house, which is actually embroiled in a cold war. Ika nominated Heather (professedly as a pawn) and Paul to keep up appearances, and I hope Neda can convince her to go after Andrew or Kenny and try to backdoor them.

All in all, Ika has done
a terrible job so far.
Ideally, Andrew and Kenny should both have been nominated. If one of them won the POV, Ika could have put Arlie, Allison, or Jon up as a replacement. Even though this aggressive action seems to go against the strategy of staying under the radar, it actually would be a preemptive strike by Ika, who knows (or should know) that those guys are going to come after her alliance next week. All in all, Ika has unfortunately done a terrible job so far in nominating two people who are non-threats to everyone and alienating Allison, who she should have added as a number.

But not all of these moves were made because Ika is a bad player; credit must also be given to Sabrina. She's annoying, and I don't like her, but she's playing a good, social, Andy-esque game, making Ika feel safe with Andrew and Kenny and convincing her that Heather is a threat.

Sadly, the women of the house are going to be wiped out if they don't turn things around soon. Ika needs to try to win Allison back and get Adel and Paul on board instead of targeting them. She also needs to overcome her dislike of Heather and bring her into the fold. Doing that will give her a few more numbers in the upcoming vote, which should be between Paul and Andrew/Kenny if she has any sense.

The men are going to dominate
the pre-jury portion of the game.
Unfortunately, the First Five has Jon and Allison, giving them 7 in a 13 person house. Jon could be swayed by Neda, possibly, and Allison needs to be worked on if the women's alliance is to have any chance. If they don't succeed, the men are going to dominate the pre-jury portion of the game.

Check back tomorrow morning for Episode 4 Survivor power rankings, and tomorrow night for a quick recap of the episode. The audio scrutiny of the episode with myself and Ethan should come between Thursday and Saturday, and on Friday you can read my weekly BBCAN recap to find out if Ika made a smart move and whether things panned out, so stay tuned!
